Spotlighting Odisha’s unique cultural heritage of inclusiveness, the programme of this 1st edition of Vagdevi LitFest spans the entire spectrum, including our tribute to late Padmashree Binode Kanungo, who being a Freedom Fighter and School dropout could singlehandedly prepare the Odia Encyclopaedia, Jnanmandal.

This is a multi–disciplinary, multi–lingual event, that draws Artistes, Writers, Academicians, Scholars from Odisha as well as Poets from different parts of India.

Festival goers will have a lot of special reasons to love this festival, like meeting your favorite Authors in an informal atmosphere, discovering new talented Writers and enjoying their poetry and other literary forms, creative Photography, live Tribal Art Painting, typical Odiya cuisine to stimulate your taste buds, endless cups of hot chai on crisp winter morning and evening, live Sufi music by some of the most talented voices and many more. From the Director's Desk

imageI always thank God for stitching some marvelous people into the fabric of my life. May God keep all my precious threads always intact and happy . Joy is portable- we can carry it wherever we go, distribute it to whosoever we want.

To overcome hurt, one friend will ask you to take revenge and get even and another will ask you to forgive and get ahead with your life who is your fall back make all the difference.

Duryodhan’s predicament in his words was “I know what’s wrong but I am not able to avoid it. I know what is right, but I am not able to indulge in it.” His fall back was his Uncle Sakuni and resultantly Durydhon moved from bad to worse.

Arjun’s predicament was different. He was allowing his personal emotions to dominate his sense of duty and hence wanted to escape from the responsibilities he had towards upholding righteousness. He needed a fallback. His fallback was Krishna andresultantly Arjun was restored to his greatness.

Humans, we are, at some point or the other, we need a fallback, who is your fallback, who is your fallback makes all the difference.

Our life needs to be utilized in a better way by good things without hurting others. Let us celebrate the life living. Each breath is a gift.
